More fun with students
A student turned a paper in that was obviously far above her ability, so I googled a phrase, and it took me directly to an article on Cervantes Virtual. Word for word, gentlemen. Word for word. Maybe she felt that by rearranging a few things she was doing her own work. Sheesh.

Two things:
First, how do you plan on sanctioning this student?
Second, I had a student plagiarize TWO reaction papers in my Golden Age class this quarter. The first time I let her off the hook with a "D" on the paper and a stern warning. Apparently not stern enough as she decided to cut-and-paste some analyses of _DQ_ from the internet into her next paper. I had to fail her in the class for this breach of conduct (I think she would have failed anyway, without the penalties). I will talk to Admin to see if she has any reprimands in her dossier. I am not sure I will go official with this.
I emailed her, telling her that I could not accept the paper, and then offered to let her resubmit an acceptable paper, which will count for less than a regular paper, since it's late.
Perhaps that's too generous. I figure if she doesn't take me up on it, or if she gives me any grief, I'll report it officially.
Keep good written records of everything.
