surrealism teaching resources

Might anyone have a syllabus on surrealism that he would like to share? Otherwise, might anyone know of some good teaching resources on the subject? I (probably foolishly) am toying with the idea of teaching a class on it this coming summer. Other than being a fan of Buñuel (and occasionally Dalí) I really have no experience in that field.

Might I suggest peyote as a starting point?

Excellent suggestion. What better way to be able to speak authoritatively on a subject than to have a repertoire of personal experiences to draw on.

Actually you could do worse than to read Artaud's México: viaje al país de los tarahumaras, which is essentially an account of his pilgrimage to Chihuahua to participated in a peyote ritual. The poets in the Contemporáneos group were the ones who supplied him with morphine to calm his drug sickness.

Sorry, I don't have a good syllabus. If you want to include some Latin American surrealism, though, I've got names and titles galore.

I'll send you my first attempt at teaching surrealism and Buñuel. The course is just wrapping up now. I'm curious to read the evaluations. The students seem to be working hard on their papers now.

On another note, could you all send me your current addresses via email? We would like to send you a Christmas card.
